Fundamentally Awesome is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering children with disabilities and supporting the families who love them. Built by families with lived experience navigating complex systems, we exist to bridge gaps in services, provide accessible resources, and create inclusive, sensory-friendly experiences where every child feels seen, celebrated, and supported. At the heart of our work are four comprehensive programs designed to provide education, skill-building, joy, and long-term support for children and families across the Houston area and beyond. Each program reflects our expertise in inclusion, sensory awareness, and family-centered design.

Visit the Adaptive Swimming program to learn about our year-round swimming instruction tailored specifically for children with special needs. This program focuses on water safety, confidence building, small class sizes, and sensory-friendly teaching methods. Our Educational Events bring families together with professionals and experienced caregivers for practical workshops that provide real-world tools. Topics include elopement prevention, speech therapy strategies, insurance navigation, CPR and first aid with special considerations, transitioning to adulthood, IEP advocacy, and more. The Service Dog Program partners with local shelters to source and train dogs as service animals for children with special needs. These specially trained dogs enhance daily life by providing independence, emotional support, safety, and companionship. Caregiver mental health matters. Our Mental Health Support offerings focus on the emotional well-being of parents and caregivers, providing connection, group support, and access to resources that honor the challenges families face.
